Working properties
The timber is reported to be easy to work. It responds rather well to most tools in operations but there is a slight tendency for end-grain to break away when working material containing compression wood and brittleheart. Turning properties are rated as good.
General description
The heartwood is reported to be durable and fairly resistant (although this is variable) to attack by termites. The sapwood is susceptible to attack by powder-post and longhorn beetles. Resistance to Impregnation. The heartwood is reported to be very resistant to preservative treatment. The sapwood has medium permeability.
Main uses
Framire can be used for several applications: interior: e.g. high class furniture, stairs, panelling, flooring, sliced veneer, industrial or heavy flooring, joinery, formwork exterior: e.g. exterior joinery, heavy carpentry.
