Working properties
The blunting effect is high and peeling and slicing is reported to be good. It is sometimes difficult to obtain a smooth surface due to interlocked grain. Keep sharp tools. Nailing is good and gluing is correct. Guariuba dries normal. Risks of end checking on quartersawn during kiln drying.

General description
The wood is yellow, becoming lustrous brown with light. Ribbon like aspect on quartersawn. It has clearly demarcated sapwood. The grain is straight or interlocked and the texture is medium. Density at 12% moisture content: 0.69 g/cm3.

Main uses
Guariuba can be used for several applications: Interior: e.g. high class furniture, stairs, panelling, flooring, veneer, joinery, moulding, sliced veneer, tool handles. Exterior: e.g. wood frame house, bridges, panelling, joinery, heavy carpentry, vehicle or container flooring, open boats. Can be used as substitute for Marple (Acer spp.), Birch (Betula spp.) or Boxwood (Buxus spp.).
