Ash machines well, is good in nailing, screwing and gluing, and can be stained to a very good finish. It dries fairly easily with minimum degrade, and there is little movement in performance.
General description
The colour of the wood ranges from creamy white through light brown, and the heartwood may be darker oliver-brown.The sapwood is light-colored to nearly white or light yellow-brown. The wood is generally straight-grained with a coarse uniform texture. It has a high flexibility, shock-resistance and resistance to splitting.
Main uses
Furniture, flooring, doors, architectural interiors, kitchen cabinets, paneling, tool handles, baseball bats, sporting equipment and turnings.
