LTL Woodproducts is the short name for Leyenaar Taapken Lamaker. This fusion company, originally over 115 years old, formed from the merger of timber traders Leyenaar Taapken BV and H. Lamaker’s Fijnhouthandel BV and marked the marriage between a North American timber specialist (Leyenaar Taapken, with its own production company in North America) and an expert in European hardwood who supplied the furniture industry in the Benelux (Lamaker). Despite the merger, LTL has always remained a family business and is led by Reinier Taapken who lived and worked in the United States and who also took LTL subsidiary company Salamanca Lumber Comp. Inc. under his wing.
