Working properties
Brittleheart is extensive in larger logs. Agba’s bending strength is low, resistance to shock loads is also low, with very low stiffness and medium crushing strength; bending classification is only moderate.
General description
Agba’s heartwood is pale pinkish-straw to tan coloured; grain straight to wavy or moderately interlocked, fine textured. Weight average 520 kg m3 (32 lb and ft3); specific gravity .52.
Main uses
Interior and exterior joinery, boatbuilding, shopfitting, flooring, panelling, furniture, mouldings, coachwork, coffins, laminated frameworks, turnery. Resinous odour prevents use in contact with foodstuffs. Selected logs sliced for veneers.
